THE MANTLE [Please send your prayer requests to pray@marianmantle.com or maryann@marianmantle.com] Marian Mantle Prayer Group Update For January 26, 2007 ************************************************** ++MESSAGE FROM THE COORDINATOR Hi, Everyone, We welcome several new members this week. Praise God! We managed, even with the snow storm, to have a successful afternoon at the January 21st presentation. With the help of the Holy Spirit and the prayers of so many of you who prayed in your homes for us during the time it was happeningfrom Kansas, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, and Iowa--we had a surprising number attend even though many did not try to brave the weather. With Father Dennis to give the opening prayer and lead the prayer service, and Lauries beautiful music, it was a very special day for me. My thanks to all who helped in so many, many ways. To Theresa, Leo, Juanita, Sr. Antonella, and Margaret who read for the prayer service; to Susan, Joyce, Margaret, and Bob who brought cookies; to Sanctuary of Hope for the beautiful table, the hot coffee and cold lemonade; to Mike and, as always, to Bob who did all the setting up and taking down and everything in between that needed doing. When you read the story of St. Pauls conversion in Gods word for us today, please think about your own prodigal Catholics. If God could knock St. Paul off his horse, blind him, and the result was such a great and powerful saint and defender of the faith, why in the world do we ever doubt He can and will bring our loved ones back to His Church. While we are praying for them, let us also pray that we find conversion every dayand that we always choose to follow the Lord without God having to take such extreme measures as knocking us off our horse and taking away our eyesight. Ok now, everybody sing, Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus! May God grant each of us the perseverance of St. Monica and the unconditional love of the father of the Prodigal Son. May the day come swiftly when we, too, are able to say the child for whom I have prayed has come home. Peace,
MaryAnn [Prayer intentions submitted to this group are shared only in the semi-weekly email update sent to members of the online prayer group. Please keep all of us and our prodigals in your prayers--just as we will pray for you.]
+Our Lady of
Sorrows, pray for us and for our children. .. GOD'S WORD FOR US [St. Paul speaks] Acts 22: 4, 6-16 I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering to prison both men and women, "As I made my journey and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone about me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, `Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?' And I answered, `Who are you, Lord?' And he said to me, `I am Jesus of Nazareth whom you are persecuting.' And I said, `What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, `Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.' "And one Anani'as, a devout man according to the law, well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, came to me, and standing by me said to me, `Brother Saul, receive your sight.' And in that very hour I received my sight and saw him. And he said, `The God of our fathers appointed you to know his will, to see the Just One and to hear a voice from his mouth; for you will be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and heard. And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.' .. WORDS OF HOPE
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. ~Helen Keller

Dear MaryAnn, Since I have listened to your CD and said lots and lots of prayers, my son has come back to the Church. His fiancι is becoming a Catholic and I am her sponsor. They will be married in the Catholic Church this winter. Their little children have already been baptized. My husband and I are so pleased and proud that this has happened and look forward to the rest taking place. We now need to continue to pray for them and for others we love who are distant from the Catholic faith. I pray daily and remember the Marian Mantle Group and especially the blessing I have received since joining. ~Wisconsin Mom
Dear MaryAnn, You did a great job of presenting a valuable perspective [on January 21st] of accepting others and growing in peace within as we continue to care deeply for others in a very respectful way. That perspective is so important in so many areas of life with others who seem to be doing things we think are not good and even harmful..Thank you for inviting me. ~Lou
Dear Friends in the Marian Mantle Group, Wow, God is Good! My deepest thanks as well to all of you and we should look forward to having this presentation again at SOH, when the weather gets better. Love in the Jesus, who continues to surprise us all...by the way, thanks for all the goodies too.... Fr. Dennis Wait
Dear MaryAnn and the Group, First I thank you for your prayers and want to let you know they are being answered. Many blessings have come to our daughter and we ask prayers of praise and thanksgiving for these gifts. Continued prayers are asked for her healing and for her finding her way back to the church. She is diligently working on a project to help those with mental illness, as well as faith issues, and I ask your prayers for the success of this monumental task. Thank you. ~Nebraska Mom ..
